Frequently Asked Questions
How long till I see results?
Once any swelling or bruising has cleared, results will be noticeable. Dr Kimberly Ivett will review the results 2 weeks after treatment. She will store any remaining filler solution should the patient request further enhancement.
Is it painless?
Filler patients will require a dash of local anesthetic prior to placement for their comfort. This will ensure painless placement of the filler, so that patients can sit back and relax.
How long till the numbness wears off?
The numbness should wear off between 2-4 hours after being administered. It is important to be very careful while the lips are numb. We recommend patients do not drink anything hot or eat solid foods requiring excessive chewing to avoid biting the lips.
Will there be swelling or bruising?
There can be minor swelling and bruising after the filler is administered which should subside between 2-10 days. Patients are able to conceal any bruising by applying lipstick.
Will I need pain relief?
Some patients may require some over-the-counter pain relief once the anesthetic wears off. Dr Kimberly Ivett will provide patients pain relief directions in her post-operative discussion.
My lips seem dry after treatment, is this normal?
Yes, lips will get slightly dry after treatment. Once the tenderness has passed, wet the lips and using an clean electric toothbrush set to low gently glide the brush across the dry areas to exfoliate them. Apply lip balm or lipstick to smooth, refreshed lips.
How long will the results last?
Typically cosmetic fillers last between 4-6 months.
What filler material is used?
For the best results, Dr Kimberly Ivett uses a monophasic Hyaluronic Acid cosmetic filler to build beautiful looking and feeling lips. This cosmetic filler has a smooth, natural feel with no lumps or bumps. Due to Industry Regulatory requirements, we are not able to publish what filler solution is used.
